In this seminar, representatives from the BRICS in the design industry share design stories, design education and design practices in their respective countries and regions. They also talk about design challenges and long-term continuous cooperation mechanisms, especially how to resolve the climate and environmental crises, the gap between the rich and the poor, the uneven development of the region, and the cultural heritage and rejuvenation, the conference will discuss and formulate the Design BRIGS Declaration.
In the meantime, an international joint Lens Sustainable Design Program aimed at promoting sustainable economic and social development in underdeveloped regions will be held, and an in-depth study will be conducted in Huaihua, a hinterland of poverty alleviation in Hunan. Bringing cross-cultural strategies and wisdom of the BRICS, the government explores ways to accurately help the poor, promote sustainable development and social innovation.

Preamble
We are design professionals, scholars and designers from BRICS-Brazil, India, China, South Africa (and Norway among others) with the aim to exchange and disseminate design culture and design value, to seek further international collaboration and to promote design application.
Our Goal
1.Foster a new generation of designers capable of respecting cultural diversity, opening up and sharing in mind;
2.Establish an innovative design platform for long-term cooperation and sustainable development.

Our Approach
1.To promote interaction and communication in various design activities, including but not limited to education, services, innovation and practice in design;
2.To explore the common challenges faced by BRICS and other countries such as climate change and environmental crises, economic inequality and imbalance of regional development, and cultural inheritance;
3.To exchange ideas on design innovation and long-term sustainable development in emerging- market countries;
4.To collaborate with BRICS designers and design agencies for extensive knowledge exchange and cooperation via design related activities, and to build a sharing innovative platform with the design community;
5.To develop jointly methodology for conducting scientific research and public welfare design activities, and strive for support from government and community.
